Travelling Around Africa Should Be On All Of Your Lists... Reason 1: The African Bush

Those that follow me on social media (@aviosadventurer) know that I bang on about travelling through Africa, and I wanted to start writing a series of articles as to why...

I had the privilege of living in South Africa for 12.5 years, from the age of 6.... I pretty much grew up there, and it's formed a large part of who I am today, and why I want to be an advocate of travelling throughout Africa... Once you get in Africa, Africa gets in your blood!

Those that have experienced the African Bush, will know that there is a smell that becomes instantly recognisable upon your return. I can't quite describe what that smell is... whether it be the rich soil, the foliage, the fresh breeze carrying with it the aromas of dust combined with the scent of animals.... there's definitely a unique smell to the bush. It's one of the first things that I notice when I'm back...

Africa is truly blessed with the vast amounts of open space, protected areas, fauna, but most importantly (in my opinion) the wildlife. Africa is host to around 1100 species of mammals and 2600 species of birds... whether you're on a quest to spot the land beasts (big and small), or you're a keen twitcher... Africa has it all.

This is merely a blog post for me to start my series on why Africa should be on everyones list. I will be writing reviews of Game Lodges, regions to travel to, travel advice...

For now, please enjoy some photos...
